LONDON – The 2026 Global Technology Conference (GTC 2026) marks a historic milestone as Europe's energy giants—Italgas, Cadent, and GRDF—unite to revolutionise the continent's gas networks. By merging digital innovation with a steadfast commitment to carbon neutrality, this unprecedented collaboration aims to redefine energy security and infrastructure for millions. Discover how these industry leaders are deploying cutting-edge technological solutions to build a smarter, more sustainable future for every European citizen.

Redefining the Energy Industry: The Global Technology Conference 2026

The 2026 edition of the Global Technology Conference is set to begin: Italgas, Cadent and GRDF join forces to redefine the future of energy. The 2026 edition of the Global Technology Conference (GTC 2026) kicks off on Wednesday 22 April 2026. This international event brings together Europe’s three leading gas distributors – Italy’s Italgas, the UK’s Cadent and France’s GRDF – for two days of discussion and exchange on innovation and know-how. Under the theme ‘Redefining the Energy Industry’, the meeting represents a unique event in the European energy landscape: for the first time, the continent’s three leading DSOs are announcing a common approach to accelerate the digital transformation of gas networks, explore new technologies and build the necessary partnerships to guide the sector towards carbon neutrality. The event will be attended by over 90 suppliers from around the world, with the aim of identifying and developing technological solutions that will improve the ‘intelligence’, flexibility and sustainability of the networks. The programme includes plenary sessions, round-table discussions and networking opportunities.

Perspectives from Industry Leaders on the Energy Transition

“In a context where energy security has returned to the forefront of the international agenda,” commented Paolo Gallo, CEO of Italgas, “the role of gas distribution networks is more strategic than ever: a widespread infrastructure that delivers energy to millions of people and businesses every day, a lymphatic system that must be constantly developed with a view to supporting a fair and economically sustainable energy transition. The ability of Italgas, Cadent and GRDF to innovate in a coordinated manner can make a difference for the entire European continent. And this is why events such as the GTC have tangible value: because the innovation that arises from collaboration produces real impacts, for businesses and for citizens.”
“At last year’s conference, we posed a series of big questions and, together, we managed to transform many of those initial conversations and ideas into concrete technological solutions that are already helping to shape our business. This year, together with our partners Italgas and GRDF, we want to do even more: develop new partnerships, explore cutting-edge technologies and push the boundaries in the areas of digital capabilities, operational excellence, decarbonisation and the redefinition of the energy sector.

A Shared Commitment to Decarbonisation and Digitalisation

“We are excited about the new collaborations and innovations that will emerge over the next two days,” commented Howard Forster, Chief Operating Officer of Cadent. “Across our companies, we share a clear and unwavering commitment to the decarbonisation of the gas sector: reducing emissions, digitising networks and accelerating the development of cleaner alternatives.
“The decarbonisation of the energy system requires both electrification and the green transition of gas. Only a complementary approach across energy sources will enable us to address the challenges of climate change, competitiveness and energy sovereignty,” said Laurence Poirier-Dietz, Chief Executive Officer of GRDF.
